Welcome to the Chernobyl Children Life Line website for the Teesside link.

We formed in February 2003 and follow the aims of the national CCLL charity which was set up in 1992.

Our aim is to bring children from the very poor villages and the contaminated areas of Belarus for recuperative holidays. It is estimated that a month in the UK eating uncontaminated food and breathing fresh air boosts their immune system for up to two years.

The children come for one month and stay with local people as part of their family.

In the two years since our link was established we have brought 64 children to our area. This summer, 2005 we hope to bring another 20.

While the children are here we take them on special days out, usually organised and funded by local organisations.

The majority of children come from such poor backgrounds that they arrive with very few belongings. Therefore, we also provide good quality clothing for them and their siblings.

Our aim is to continue bringing children to Teesside. It costs £350 for the airfare for each child plus additional expenses during their stay.

There are many ways in which you can help the children:
  • By welcoming them into your home
  • Fundraising
  • Donating money or clothes

More information can be found on our How You Can Help Page.

The Chernobyl Children Life Line Middlesbrough/Teesside link is a registered charity. The charity number is 1014274.
